It’s an established fact that Camon Series is based on photography, and Tecno Camon CX is not an exception.

Equipped with a 16MP rear shooter and a 16MP selfie camera, Camon CX is believed to be on of the phones to showcase best and quality selfies.

But the beauty of Tecno CX goes beyond the camera, it’s indeed a smartphone with a lot of good-looking features.

Design

The China-based manufacturer, Tecno Mobile, designed the phone similar to its predecessor, Camon C9. However, apart from the centered front camera, all other specifications of the phone are new innovations.

It’s an ultra-thin smartphone with a beautifully crafted all aluminum unibody design that keeps it fluid in the hand and premium to the eyes.

The phone sports a 2.5D glass covering its 5.5-inch IPS full HD display; the glass screen reaches out and compliments the square-inch sides and the slightly curved back.

The only issue I have with the design is the bezels at the top and the bottom chin, most especially that of the bottom chin. I believe it would have been a lot better if Tecno had incorporated capacitive navigation keys as opposed to the on-screen navigation keys in order to free up some space and give the chin a purpose. Most people, however, will probably not notice this, so it’s no big deal really.

There is a much similarity between iPhone and CX most especially when considering the back camera, the antenna lines, and the bottom side of the device. But to be candid, Camon CX is just as beautifully crafted as the iPhone. Maybe cheaper but no doubt a premium device.

Software

The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with HiOS 2.0 UI. So, you can imagine how well it works. Although HiOS is relatively the same since it was first introduced on Tecno Boom J8, it is an interesting thing to know that Camon CX runs on the latest version of Android.

To improve the efficacy of the phone, you can install a third party launcher due to the square icons and lack of proper customization. Well, the fact is that Tecno should try and do away with HiOS or just tone it down like they did with Tecno L9.

Performance

Camon CX comes with a 16BG internal memory and 2GB RAM, you can imagine how well it will work. The storage is probably more than a light user could fill up but if for any reason you want more space, you can easily expand it up to 128GB with an SD card.

Applications like Whatsapp and Twitter work flawlessly on the device because of the efficiency of the RAM. Though demanding apps like Facebook and a few 3D games might slow it a bit, they wouldn’t reach the level of annoying anyone.

For those that wish to know, Camon CX comes with Hi Manager and other tools that will help to enjoy smooth running of the phone.

Battery Life

Another important point to take note of is the battery life even though Tecno is known to produce phones with a good battery life. Camon CX comes with a battery capacity of 3200mAh, which is actually good enough to last you throughout the entire day even if you’re using WiFi. However, the duration might reduce for those that rely mostly on a full-time online presence and for those that love to do heavy gaming on their phones.

Good news is, charging time is very impressive because it comes with fast charging capabilities and, in fact, it charges from zero to 100% within an hour or so.

You should, however, know that the kind of charger you use matters a lot. There’s a power saving mode that helps to keep your phone running when the battery is low.

Camera

This is basically a “camera phone”. It features a 16MP rear and selfie cameras that are superb for taking high definition videos and pictures.

Overall, the camera system is really impressive and you’ll probably end up loving it. You may not want to use it in poor lighting condition like in the night, though.

Although the phone comes with a beautiful ring of flash, it doesn’t help much and most pictures taken at night with the flash often appear whitewash. I believe Tecno is not alone in this problem as the same can be obtained in almost any type of smartphone camera system.
